International Dance Games is a unique event in the world of dance, organized by Fiestalonia Milenio, which annually brings together talented dancers from around the globe. This season, the festival broke its own record with nearly 500 participants. The geographical scope of the 2024 competition was one of the most extensive yet, featuring participants from Poland, Latvia, Georgia, USA, Bulgaria, Indonesia, Croatia, Cyprus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Estonia, and Ukraine. All these countries presented their dance performances on the coast of Lloret de Mar in Spain. Participants competed in various dance genres, from classical ballet to modern street styles, making the competition vibrant and diverse. The competition day was held at Gran Casino Costa Brava. The jury, composed of recognized dance experts, evaluated the participants’ skills based on numerous criteria, ensuring that the very best were identified. This season’s jury members included:
- Marcos Martinez: A highly regarded national and international Hip Hop trainer, choreographer, and artist with an impressive portfolio of television shows and events.
- Yulia Kruglyak: The first Slavic flamenco performer in Spain with 30 years of stage experience, a successful choreographer who conducts flamenco master classes and teaches new dancers. A member of international competitions.
- Jose Maria Lopez Santamaria: A dancer and choreographer graduated from the Professional and Superior Dance Conservatory of Barcelona, a dancer at the State Theater of Schwerin in Germany, and a freelancer in various national and international projects. He is the head of the Dance Department at Les Arts School and the Artistic Director of the Baix Montseny Dance Competition.
- Mariam Turkmenbaeva: A professional choreographer and dancer, known for choreographing famous shows like Xfactor Ukraine, “Ukraine’s Got Talent,” and “So You Think You Can Dance.” She is the front girl of the famous band “Quest Pistols Show” and has studied at the best dance schools in New York and Los Angeles.
In addition to the competition program, International Dance Games always offers a rich educational part: master classes and creative meetings with leading choreographers and dancers from around the world. It’s not just a competition but a unique opportunity for each participant to improve their skills and gain new inspiration. Participants were able to attend three master classes and take lessons from the professional jury during the festival. There were three dance workshops organized: Hip-Hop by Marcos Martinez, Modern Dance by Mariam Turkmenbaeva, and Spanish Flamenco by Yulia Kruglyak. Want to see what happened? The result of such a rich program was a long-awaited friendly Gala Concert of the participants, where the brightest performances of the festival were presented! The evening, held in the main square of Lloret de Mar, culminated in the awards ceremony of the International Dance Games winners. This year’s Grand Prix was awarded to two participants. Among the group dance ensembles, Dance Studio Saltatrix (Pula, Croatia) received the highest award for their performance “Wired”. Among the soloists, the jury highlighted Arina Markelova from Dance Theater Polly (Tallinn, Estonia), who received the second Grand Prix of the competition!
