Report of the “Mediterranean Folk Fest” (October, 2025)

From October 10 to 12, 2025, the beautiful seaside town of Lloret de Mar became the stage for the Mediterranean Folk Fest — a bright celebration of national traditions, music, and dance from different corners of Europe. The festival took place in the very heart of the city — on the main town square, gathering participants and spectators eager to enjoy the beauty of authentic folk art.

Although the festival was not large in number of participants, this fact did not diminish its spirit — quite the opposite! The event created an atmosphere of friendship and cultural exchange that touched every guest and performer.

Folk Dance Performance — October 11

The highlight of the evening was the performance of the folk dance group KLASESBIEDRI from Marupe, Latvia. Their lively and energetic national dances instantly captivated the audience, filling the square with rhythm, color, and joy. The dancers performed twice during the concert, showcasing the true essence of Latvian dance tradition — dynamic, playful, and full of national pride. Their performance became one of the most memorable moments of the entire festival.Alongside the dancers, the audience had the pleasure of enjoying the sounds of traditional Finnish choral music. Two wonderful choirs from Finland — Naiskuoro Ultima Thule (Female Choir Ultima Thule) from Oulu and Kaustisen Hääkuoro — graced the stage with their heartfelt singing. Finnish folk songs, known for their deep connection with nature, lyrical melodies, and emotional sincerity, transported listeners to the northern landscapes of lakes and forests, where every sound tells a story passed down through generations.

Choral Concert — October 12

On October 12, the festival continued with a concert of choral music held at the beautiful Església de Sant Romà de Lloret de Mar. This historic church has long been a cherished concert venue for many Fiestalonia festivals — its perfect acoustics and spiritual atmosphere make it an ideal place for the harmony of voices from around the world.

During the concert, the audience — local parishioners, tourists, and residents of Lloret de Mar — filled the church, enjoying every note sung by the talented Finnish choirs. The performance ended with long and heartfelt applause, as listeners simply didn’t want to let the performers leave the stage. It was a truly emotional evening that united cultures through the universal language of music.
