Report of Golden Voices of Montserrat (March 2019, Spain)

The international event “Golden Voices of Montserrat 2019” allowed us to go to the magical world of choral art and enjoy the fascinating singing of unique choirs from 11 countries of the world!

The competition of choral singing was held from 24 to 28 of March, 2019 and during its ten-year history, It was for the first time for Norway to be represented in this competition by VIVA Sandnes kulturskolekor.

The jury consisted of outstanding cultural figures – Josep Prats, Joan Carles Capdevila, Juan Cassas, Irina Bronnikova and President of Fiestalonia – David Dzhaparidze.

During the festival, all participants were offered an incredible master class from the famous Catalan chorus master Josep Prats, in which he managed to bring together more than 400 votes!

One of the memorable moments for the participants of the “Golden Voices of Montserrat” was the singing at the Basilica of Montserrat, together with the oldest choir of “pure-voiced boys” in Europe – ESCOLANIA.

The Grand Prix winner was a choir from Japan – Mukogawa Women’s University Senior High School Choral Club, which impressed the jury with the nobility of sound and inspired other participants of the festival.

“Golden Voices of Montserrat” is not just a choir competition, it is a creative meeting of choirs of different ages, different styles, different schools, different countries. Each choir contributed a part of itself, its culture, its emotions, smiles, tears of joy and made this event unforgettable!
